I was very disappointed. I think there are two types of spa massage place. The professional ones that hires trained RMTs (registered massage therapists) and the fly-by-night places that hires "young asians", advertise online and have per "bait and switch" tactics. This place has $48/hr massage advertised all over the place including on their door. But as soon as you walk in and are ready on the table, they want to up-sell you to a $110/hr "package". I wanted the advertised 48/hr massage. For $105, I can get a professional massage by an RMT! When I refuse the upsell, the masseuse then wanted me to switch to a male, and I said "no", I prefer a female. After that, she changed the story and said she could only do 45 min!!! I probably should have walked out. I got a 7/10 massage which is what I would expect from a non-RMT at that price but when paying, she told me the price was $45 for 45 min and $55 for 60 minutes and tips were not included. I gave her $60 cash waiting for change back but she said the rest was for a tip! I've never, ever been to a place that refuses to give you change! She ended up giving me $5 back and complained that she was only paid by tips! Well, that's either a lie or against employment laws. That's not my problem. When I go to the $105 professional places with RMT, I'm told tips are not expected or common!I think with some of these lesser places, you have to negotiate the price before the deliver services. That way they are no bad surprises on either side but I don't think that's the way these fly-by-night places work.So overall, the message was good (after that initial negotiation phase was done) but the post message nonsense make me give this place a one star. When I go for a massage, it's not to be taken for a ride!Oh, and none of the pretty young asians advertised online work there! They seem to pull pictures from the web?
I like this place when I am in North Van area, but the problem is that there is no shower in this spa and dont feel comfortable becase the massage rooms are to small and masseouses ask for too much tip for whole body massage.
I had great time at lavender spa . I have to say , they do really massage there ! Much much better then RMT worth to try !
Try the package one $100/4ins Have to say they do reallly good massage . I had coco last time . Her English was poor but massage
I was drawn in by the $48/hour massage sign outside. I don't think I would go back. I didn't feel overly welcomed when I entered. They wanted to charge me $70, saying it included the tip, without asking me how much I wanted to tip. There was also a weird sign about not allowing illegal activities on the wall. Reading that sign after a relatively good massage left me feeling uneasy.
