This location is kept clean, there is plenty of equipment, and it only gets really busy at the usual peak hours. I have been a member for over three years, so I pay with their original plan one payment of 15.75 per month which I much prefer to the biweekly payment plans new members have to pay. The staff are not very friendly. They often talk amongst themselves kind of like a clique. It's not very often that I'm greeted upon entering, and they almost never say goodbye when I leave. The other members keep to themselves, as well. They close pretty early considering what times other gyms in the area close at. With all that said, I still really like this gym. It's upper floor is spacious, and have lots of windows/brightness. Would recommend.
Club 16 North Vancouver is a great gym in a prime location. In terms of equipment their machines and free weights are kept clean and tidy. Their personal training staff is a strong standout of professionals who greet, and create bonds with clients more than the front of hours staff have. In my own opinion, the front of house staff has gone through waves of strong, connecting individuals who greet and are always on the go to staff that miss greets, are on their phones etc. the above I have never seen with the personal training staff and that is a huge credit to them, and their passion for their clients. The gym does get busy, especially in the evenings so I recommend hitting the gym at 5:30 am and start your day right!
I am SEVERLY pissed off. I decided to sign up with the corporate membership because my boss gave me the option to. So I finally go in to sign up, DOUBLE CHECKING with the employee that it was only 8 dollars biweekly. She said yes and then we finished all of the papers. The next time I went in, I was stopped and told that there is something wrong with my membership. The employee printed out a paper and showed me that the price is actually 10 dollars , like it was no big deal. I tell her that that is not what I was told from the start. Had I known that they would charge me 20! bucks a month I would NOT have signed up. She understood what I was saying and that she would contact the employee that helped me sign up. I go back again in a week and the exact thing happens again. I was stopped and told theres something wrong with my membership and that I should paying 10 dollars. I told her that same thing yet again. This time, Jen(the employee that helped me sign up) was there and was available to talk to me. She told me that head office changed the plans, and that none of the employees knew about it. She told me that they should honour the fact I was told from the beginning that it was 8 dollars. and that everything will be fine. about a month later, I look at my visa to find MULTIPLE charges of 10 dollars. I called VERY angry because this has still not been dealt with now 2 MONTHS in. The employee that I was talking to on the phone said that she has contacted the manager and that its now up to them to contact me. It has now been almost 3 weeks since the manager was suppose to get back to me. You can not just tell a person one price and make them sign a contract and then up the price immediately after. This is absolutely unacceptable , and embarrassing that such a well known company, can't deal with problems properly. I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone. All I has provided for me is stress and headaches. Wish I could do 0 stars.
The memberships are so cheap that personal training is actually affordable. I work with Christina twice a week and she's really good. Would highly recommend. You can get a membership and a PT for the price of only a membership at Steve Nash in Park Royal and the facility is just as good. I had low expectations after previously going to the Waterfront location downtown, but the North Shore club is way better. Lots of weights. Suitable for most people.
The club is great other than the ladies showers. The showers sucks. Only one shower works properly which everyone uses it and its always so nasty. I have requested many times to have the showers fixed but so far no luck.
